NeuroVitals Brain Health Assessment in Cape Town

Understand what’s driving your focus, mood and memory, and leave with a clear, personalised plan. A brain-first assessment, informed by insights from over 250,000 brain scans.

Is it you, or your brain?

You may be performing well on the outside while quietly noticing the opposite. Sharper before. More reactive now. Memory that feels less reliable than it should.

Most people try to fix this on their own. More supplements, more caffeine, another productivity system, more generic advice. But when no one has looked at what’s actually driving the problem, it’s easy to spend months on the wrong things.

NeuroVitals starts at the root, so you can stop guessing and act on what matters.

A focused session with Matt, our Licensed Brain Health Clinician trained in the Amen Clinics Method, to understand your challenges, goals and brain-health picture in context.

BRIGHT MINDS is a structured framework covering 11 evidence-based factors that influence brain health and long-term cognitive function. We review each one to build a targeted picture of what may be protecting, or quietly eroding, your brain.

  • Blood flow: healthy circulation delivers the oxygen your brain needs to function and stay resilient.
  • Retirement and ageing: ongoing learning, novelty and connection keep the brain active as you age.
  • Inflammation: chronic inflammation, often driven by diet, places strain on brain function over time.
  • Genetics: inherited risk isn’t destiny — knowing it early means you can act on what’s modifiable.
  • Head trauma: past concussions and head injuries can have a lasting effect on how the brain works.
  • Toxins: alcohol, substances, mould and environmental exposures all add to the brain’s load.
  • Mental health: mood, stress and trauma are closely tied to memory and cognitive performance.
  • Immunity and infections: immune strain and chronic infection can contribute to brain fog and reduced clarity.
  • Neurohormones: balanced thyroid, adrenal and sex hormones support steady mood and cognition.
  • Diabesity: blood-sugar regulation and weight have a direct influence on brain structure and function.
  • Sleep: quality sleep is when the brain recovers, consolidates memory and clears waste.
A useful baseline to flag concerns, support prevention, and track improvement over time.

NeuroVitals assesses the seven major brain systems that influence focus, mood, stress, memory and impulse control — identifying which system(s) need support so recommendations can be targeted, not generic.

  • Prefrontal Cortex
    • Functions: attention, judgement, planning, impulse control, follow-through, empathy
    • Problems: inattention, poor judgement, lack of forethought, impulsivity, procrastination, lack of empathy
  • Temporal Lobes
    • Functions: memory, mood stability, temper control, language, listening, reading, reading social cues, rhythm and music
    • Problems: forgetfulness, moodiness, irritability, anger, trouble finding words, processing problems, poor social skills
  • Parietal Lobes
    • Functions: direction sense, reading maps, sense of touch, seeing objects in space
    • Problems: gets lost easily, poor map reading, oversensitivity to light, touch or sound
  • Anterior Cingulate Gyrus
    • Functions: mental flexibility, shifting between tasks, cooperation, seeing options, error correction
    • Problems: getting stuck, worry, rigidity, argumentativeness, obsessions, compulsions, addictions
  • Deep Limbic System
    • Functions: mood control, motivation, attitude, appetite and sleep, bonding
    • Problems: low mood, poor motivation, sleep and appetite issues, isolation, negativity, guilt, hopelessness
  • Basal Ganglia
    • Functions: sense of calm, setting your anxiety level, movement, mediating pleasure
    • Problems: tension, nervousness, anxiety, panic, conflict avoidance, predicting the worst
  • Cerebellum
    • Functions: coordination, motor control, posture, organisation, speed of thought
    • Problems: poor coordination, disorganisation, slow thinking, unstable posture

Your Brain Type describes the natural tendencies behind how you focus, feel, manage stress and respond to the world. Drawing on the Amen Clinics model, the NeuroVitals Assessment identifies which of the 16 Brain Types best fits you, not to put you in a box, but to understand how your brain tends to work so your plan can be tailored to it.

Knowing yours helps explain why certain things feel easy or hard for you, and points to the support most likely to work with your brain rather than against it.

Where appropriate, we may recommend DNA testing or functional testing through trusted partners to help personalise your plan even further.

We check in after your assessment so you do not leave with information only, but with support to help you translate insight into action.

I went for 10 sessions of HBOTT to help speed up the recovery process after surgery. I could not recommend these sessions any more to anyone post surgery looking to speed up the healing process! I could feel after each session a huge difference in my energy and over all wellbeing not to mention how well I sleep when I am doing the HBOt

I recently completed a brain health journey with NeuroVita and was highly impressed with the depth and quality of the experience. The programme included a NeuroVitals Assessment, DNAMind genetic analysis, personalised supplement protocol, and Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT). Each component felt tailored and designed to provide meaningful insight into brain health and cognitive wellbeing. From the outset, Geraldine and Matthew delivered a highly professional and welcoming experience, with exceptional ability to translate complex neuroscience into practical, actionable guidance. What stood out most was the clarity it created—simple, actionable strategies to support brain health in everyday life. Through implementation of the recommendations, HBOT, and supplement protocol, I’ve noticed more consistent physical and mental energy, along with improved calm resilience. I would highly recommend NeuroVita to anyone interested in brain health optimisation, longevity, and proactive cognitive wellbeing. The insights I gained feel like a valuable long-term investment in health.

Matthew and Geraldine have created a space which is welcoming and nurturing. Going to Neuorovita has been a complete game changer for me in terms of my health and wellness journey. We only have one body and one life, so this is my investment to myself- my brain, my heart and my overall wellbeing. A world class service and facility. I cannot recommend this beautiful space more.

I went for a brain analysis at NeuroVita and was so impressed with how they handled it and the thorough feedback i was given. When I paired that info with the correct vitamins my health started to sky rocket. After a couple of H-Bot sessions I completely feel like I am in my prime again. Sharp but calm, focussed yet relaxed. As far as investing in your health goes, this is a must!

I booked and assessment with Matt, so informative and gave such great insight into how my brain works. As someone who has had anxiety and overthinking, and feeling like I’m always at fault, or not good enough. The insight has made me see it’s the type of brain not who I am at my core. When our brains can work optimally we live a healthier and better life. As I’m reaching my 40’s and a lot of change over the years, my aim is to live with intention and live the best life I can. I absolutely loved getting the feedback and can’t wait to see the plan Matt has for me going forward. On my list to do is the HBOT and the head peice.

I learned about NeuroVita through a friend and out of curiosity booked a few appointments. I thought why not give some attention to my brain! Little did I know that I would stumble into a moment of awakening regarding my brain health, and choosing to honor it was probably the greatest gift. Working with Matt and doing the NeuroVitals assessment was the first step to understanding where I was and what I could do in order to improve or enhance my energy, sleep patterns, mood, emotions, anxiety, etc. Doing the assessment is an important tool to gain insights on the workings of your brain and to devise a plan of action to allow it to work better. The sessions in the hyperbaric oxygen chamber are the best gift to your brain and overall health, each session being a calming and soothing hour for yourself, having a deep feeling you are taking care of yourself. I highly recommend NeuroVita. The attention is personalised and truly focused on your needs. The environment at the NeuroVita offices is safe, comfortable and friendly, and the location central, beautiful and easy to get to. We can infinitely benefit from paying more attention to our brain. Thank you NeuroVita!

I’ve yet to come across something of this nature in South Africa and am grateful to have been introduced to Matt. He was pleasant, knowledgeable and easy to engage with. Our session was personal and very insightful. I look forward to implementing a plan of action.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. NeuroVitals is not itself a brain scan but is based on the key insights from a database of over 250,000 brain scans. It is a brain health assessment and personalised review process designed to help you understand the patterns and risk factors that may be affecting how you think, feel and perform.

Yes. The NeuroVitals Assessment can be done online or in person in Cape Town.

Brain reserve is your brain’s capacity to withstand stress, ageing, injury, inflammation, poor sleep, toxins and disease before symptoms begin to show. The more reserve you have, the more resilient you are — helping you maintain focus, memory, mood and decision-making for longer.

Cognitive decline rarely begins overnight. It usually develops gradually, as brain reserve is worn down over time. The encouraging part is that it isn’t fixed: at any age, targeted changes in nutrition, sleep, exercise, stress regulation, blood flow, brain training and personalised care can help protect and build it. Part of what NeuroVitals does is help identify what may be draining yours.

Yes. Many of our clients are achieving at a high level. They simply know they’re more reactive, more stretched or less resilient than they should be, and want to address it before it becomes a bigger problem.
No. NeuroVitals doesn’t replace medical diagnosis, psychiatric care or treatment from a registered healthcare provider. We’re happy to refer and collaborate where appropriate.
Cognitive decline rarely begins overnight. It usually develops gradually as brain reserve is worn down, often for years before symptoms are obvious. Brain fog, poor focus, emotional reactivity, memory lapses, poor sleep and low motivation are frequently dismissed as normal stress or ageing, but they can be early signals that reserve is being eroded.

They overlap, but they are not exactly the same. Mental health describes your mood, emotional state, and psychological wellbeing. Brain health refers to how the underlying organ is functioning — including factors such as blood flow, sleep, inflammation, hormones, energy, and the brain systems involved in focus, mood, stress and memory.

In many ways, mental health depends heavily on brain health. If the brain is under strain, inflamed, sleep-deprived, under-fuelled, or not functioning well across key systems, this can affect how you think, feel and cope. That is why we take a brain-first approach. Rather than looking at symptoms alone, we also look at the health and function of the organ helping to drive them.

As Dr Amen often says, mental health is brain health.

It depends entirely on what’s causing it. Brain fog isn’t a diagnosis, it’s a signal, and it can stem from inflammation, poor sleep, gut imbalances, nutrient gaps, hormonal shifts or several factors at once. Because the cause varies so much from person to person, the useful first step is identifying what’s driving yours rather than guessing at remedies. That’s what the assessment is built to do.

Better brain function now.
Stronger brain health for life.
