Structured, evidence-informed nutritional support for the brain, led by Hannah Kaye in association with NeuroVita, targeting the metabolic and inflammatory drivers behind mood, focus, energy and long-term cognitive health.
This is structured, evidence-informed nutritional guidance designed to support brain health, mental wellbeing and cognitive function through personalised dietary intervention. Led by Hannah Kaye in association with NeuroVita, it goes well beyond general healthy eating and focuses on the metabolic, inflammatory and neurochemical drivers that may be affecting mood, focus, energy, resilience and long-term brain health.
The brain is the most metabolically demanding organ in the body, and the emerging field of metabolic psychiatry points to disrupted brain energy metabolism as a shared root of many neurological and psychiatric conditions, one that targeted dietary intervention can meaningfully address. Depending on the person, this work may involve gut support, elimination work, ketogenic metabolic therapy, or a more comprehensive phased pathway.
At NeuroVita, this is one part of a broader brain health offering, available alongside the NeuroVitals Assessment and other support, with Hannah providing the nutritional guidance.

Every programme begins with a full medical and nutritional history and a functional assessment, so your plan is built on a clear understanding of what's actually going on.

Hannah designs your protocol from your history, symptoms and goals, rather than applying a fixed template.

The work is closely supported over months, with regular consultations to guide you, monitor progress and adjust the plan as your body responds.

Where it's indicated, functional testing such as GI Map, Organic Acids or SIBO testing adds deeper insight.
The Ketogenic Brain Protocol
Ketogenic metabolic therapy is the most evidence-supported dietary intervention for brain and neurological health currently available. By shifting the brain’s primary fuel from glucose to ketone bodies, it addresses the cerebral glucose hypometabolism that underlies many neurological and psychiatric conditions, giving the brain a cleaner and more neuroprotective source of energy.
This is an intensive, closely supported programme. The first six weeks matter most, with weekly contact to guide your transition into ketosis, troubleshoot, monitor progress and refine your protocol. Support then tapers as your confidence and metabolic flexibility build.

The Brain Foundations Programme
Many people see meaningful improvements in mood, cognition, energy and focus once inflammatory foods and gut disruptors are systematically identified and removed. The Brain Foundations Programme is built for that work. It suits people who aren’t yet ready or able to take on a ketogenic protocol, and those whose gut health needs attention before more intensive dietary therapy can be effective.
Working from a thorough clinical history and functional assessment, Hannah designs a personalised elimination protocol and gut support plan, addressing the gut-brain axis and creating a cleaner metabolic and inflammatory environment for the brain to work in.
Session structure: Initial consultation (90 minutes), followed by three monthly follow-ups (45 minutes each) across months two, three and four.
What’s included:
The Complete Brain Nutrition Pathway
For many people, the most effective and sustainable route to ketogenic metabolic therapy runs through gut health first. An inflamed gut, dysbiosis or unidentified food sensitivities can undermine ketosis, impair nutrient absorption and limit the results of even a well-designed ketogenic protocol.
The Complete Brain Nutrition Pathway combines both programmes into one continuous course of treatment. You begin with the Brain Foundations Programme, addressing gut health, identifying inflammatory triggers and preparing your metabolism. You then move into the full Ketogenic Brain Protocol with those foundations in place. It’s the most comprehensive nutritional therapy offering available here, and the full extent of what dietary intervention can do for brain health.

Clinical collaborator
Hannah Kaye is a Cape Town-based functional wellness and nutritional consultant with sixteen years of clinical experience interpreting functional health tests and designing evidence-based dietary interventions. Her work sits at the intersection of nutrition, brain health and metabolic medicine, taking in nutritional psychiatry, longevity, gut health and nutrigenomics.
In 2024 she completed advanced specialist training in ketogenic metabolic therapies, placing her among a small number of practitioners globally with formal clinical training in this field. That training includes certification through Beth Zupec-Kania and Dr Georgia Ede’s Ketogenic Diets for Mental Health programme, alongside a BSc Nutritional Health (First Class Honors) and training in applied functional medicine.
Hannah takes a functional medicine approach, addressing the underlying drivers of health challenges through diet, targeted supplementation and the identification of hidden sensitivities, always working in collaboration with a client’s other treating practitioners. She works in association with NeuroVita to bring a structured, evidence-informed nutritional dimension to comprehensive brain health care.
You leave with a personalised, targeted nutritional plan built for better brain function, and better support for mood, cognition, energy, focus and resilience. The work improves the metabolic and inflammatory environment the brain depends on, and gives you a clear way to use nutrition as part of a broader brain health and cognitive longevity strategy. For the right person, it’s also a properly guided route into ketogenic metabolic therapy, with the clinical support and follow-through that makes it work.
The best way to decide is a brief conversation before you book. As a guide, if you have significant digestive symptoms, suspected food sensitivities or a history of gut issues, the Brain Foundations Programme or the Complete Brain Nutrition Pathway is often the better starting point. If your gut health is generally good and you’re ready to commit to a ketogenic protocol, the Ketogenic Brain Protocol may suit you. Contact Hannah directly to talk it through.
Yes. Nutritional therapy is complementary to conventional medical and psychiatric treatment, and can meaningfully support it. Hannah works collaboratively with other practitioners and will liaise with your treating physician where appropriate. Any changes to psychiatric medication should always be discussed with and managed by your prescribing doctor.
